Unfortunately, we were duped into thinking we were going to keep the stainless steel appliances so there are cream-colored ones there instead (I slightly shuddered when I wrote that). Then, you look over at the other wall of the kitchen and see this green color:
Yes, that is a light, lime green on that wall. It's even brighter in person and is the only thing (besides the hideous appliances) that I don't like about the kitchen. I've been racking my brain to find a green color that is still light but complements the darker green.
This search for color inspired me to look up other green kitchens and I noticed green fits in every style, from country to modern.
How do you feel about green rooms or kitchens?

I like it!! I think green can be a soothing, natural color choice. Both of our bathrooms are a green color, kind of an avocado, if you will. Your kitchen is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI Like it I think I like the last green kitchen color the best...
ReplyDeleteOMG I never thought about a green kitchen before, but the bright kelly green one with the white shelves and cabinets is to die for!!! I love the darker color green you have right now, too. Gorgeous with the black granite!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE shelves in kitchens! Such a classic look. That totally sucks you didn't get to keep the new appliances. :-(
ReplyDeleteHI - enjoyed looking over your blog - I read danielles's blog daily and saw your blog and realized you were from tampa -
ReplyDeleteyour the first person I have seen comments from on all the blogs I read that is from Tampa. Glad to see I am not alone -
just wanted to say hello -
It really depends on what type of green for me, but its not really one of my go to colours like blue or purple.
ReplyDeleteI like them! My favorite though is a deep red! Hope you have a great weekend honey! Kori xoxo
ReplyDeletemy last apartment had a kelly green kitchen and I loved it. I just moved and haven't painted anything yet but you are making me want my kitchen back!
ReplyDeleteLove green! In fact, we have these (now I'm shuddering) off white laminate countertops and they even covered the backsplash space with this almost sick yellow looking laminate. I wanted to paint our cabinets white, but we're worried the white against the off white will make the kitchen look dirty, so I'm thinking of painting the cabinetry green...much like the cabinets in the second to last picture. It's such a soothing color!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you decide to do with the kitchen!
I have a 2-tone green kitchen and I LOVE it!! One of the greens turned out a to be a different shade than what I thought that it would be....but it is still ok :)
ReplyDeleteGreen feels neutral to me. Our dining room is a sage green, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI like green! I particularly like the second green (i'm a sucker for bright colours) and the fourth one. x
ReplyDeleteGreen's difficult shade I believe. I like a light celery type of green...as I call a Martha Stewart Green.
ReplyDeleteI love green!!!! I actually just painted my kitchen a pretty sage green color (I highly recommend Benjamin Moore's dry sage). We have white cabinets and a brown/black granite looking counter top. The overall effect is very calming and slightly Tuscan. I love it!
ReplyDeleteAfter looking at the photo of your kitchen, I would recommend that you consider changing the lime green wall that you are unhappy with to a stronger color that can compete with the darker kelly green that you do like. I am thinking that black would be an amazing way to treat that wall while repeating the black of the granite counters. Also, the black will provide a great contrast to your lighter in tone cabinets. Above the cabinets could be painted black (it will appear to be more like an architectural detail that way, like a deep crown molding - kind of like your third picture with the black shelves above the mosaic tile). Even your breakfast nook could be painted black for extra drama. Look for posts on all black rooms ... they are extremely in vogue! To finish it all off, I would then add a few touches of hot pink for that designer pop of contrasting color (a large bouquet of pink tulips on the kitchen table would do the trick!) Let me know what you decide!
ReplyDeletePS You could even add a cool green, black and ivory wall paper to your breakfast nook to connect the three main colors visually, using your existing seat cushions (which are very nice!) and painting the base of your window seat solid black. :)
