Cold Cream... Just For Grandmas?

I have a confession to make... I use cold cream. That's right, I am 25 and I use cold cream. I don't know why I started using it. I think I ran out of makeup remover and it was on sale and it sounded nice so I tried it out.

I have no complaints; it removes all of my makeup and moisturizes at the same time. I think I am hesitant to tell people because cold cream is associated with older women who swore by the stuff in their youth and today. I'm not sure why cold cream lost popularity but I didn't know until I looked it up that it's been around for 2000 years. True story.

What about you, any beauty products you use that maybe you learned about from your mom or grandmother?

  1. I use cold cream too! The best cleanser out there for sensitive dry skin. I also use rosewater and glycerin as a toner, a tip from an older gal! xx

  3. My mother in her 20s always used cold cream to remove makeup. I don't know why she doesn't use it now (almost 70) because she still wears makeup every day. She has had beautiful skin over the years. Keep away from cigarette smoke and always remove your makeup and you'll have beautiful skin like her too! I don't use anything that my mother has, but I do have a funny store. I'm very light in color (Clinique's palest shade). My mother is darker complexed. She wears a medium-colored foundation for coverage and it looks natural. Well, I dipped into my mother's makeup bag as a young adult (19)and started using her foundation. I had a brown face and a white neck. My cousin pulled me aside and said...that shade is too dark for you. I was so happy that she told me. I looked ridiculous, but didn't "know" it.

  4. Ah I love cold cream! Too funny. I also use Vaseline everyday for everything! This is def something I got from my nana... here are some of my daily uses.

    - Put vaseline on your elbows every day – they will stay soft!

    - Put Vaseline on your cuticles several times a day for softer and better looking cuticles.

    - Put Vaseline on chapped lips or when in the sun. give you a gloss looks but helps them from getting dry.

...great topic. Might have to post about my Vaseline obsession now. xo
